Kazuhiro Ise

Ise is a Fukuoka-native born in 1966. He graduated from Kyushu University to be engaged in treatment of AIDS at the university hospital. For 1994 -1999, Ise also worked as the system operator for the AIDS Forum and the Internet Usersf Forum on the Nifty Serve. Starting 2000, he plans to start up web sites featuring gLocalityh, gMedicine, Nursing Care and Welfarehand gCommunityh on the Net. His major academic pursuits include information within the community, information on medicine and welfare (the electronic medical record) and the medical e-commerce. Currently Ise is actively involved in networking activities in Kochi prefecture where he is based after having been transferred to Kochi Medical School in 1999.

Fujiyo Ishiguro has more than 15 years experience in strategic marketing and business development in cross-cultural markets. Prior to joining Netyear, Fujiyo was president of Alphametric, a consulting firm that creates alliances between Japanese and Silicon Valley technology companies. She advised many Japanese companies about strategic alliances as well as investments in Silicon Valley startups.

During her four years at Alphametric, she developed a growing stable of clients, including Sony, Panasonic, NTT, NEC, Toshiba, Fujitsu, and Dentsu. Fujiyo also advised American companies about entering the Japanese market.

Before Alphametric, she was a manager of international marketing and business development for multinational high-tech companies both in the US and in Japan.

Paul M. Kane

Paul M. Kane, a national of United Kingdom, is Operations Director of the Internet Computer Bureau plc, having been active in the industry since 1984.

His responsibilities include developing and overseeing practices and controls under which ICB administers secure internet services to various developing nations on behalf of their respective governments. Over the last two years Paul has been one of the authors designing the protocols supporting the exchange of legally binding documents and signatures within the European Community. In 1996 ICB was one of the founding members of the ""Open access to electronic commerce for European SMEs"" Memorandum of Understanding now adopted by 142 multi-national companies.

Paul is currently on secondment as General Manager, to INternet ONE, a testbed project of the Group of 8 Industrialized Nations Information Society facilitating increased consumer confidence, competitiveness and participation in global trade for Small to Medium sized Enterprises (SME's). INternet ONE has won number of awards, most recently from the Research Institute of Computer Science, Tokyo, and Best Consumer Customer Service at the Internet Industry Awards 1999.

In the past, he has been World Coordinator of the Trade Point Programme (1995-1998), Chairman of the Internet Society Geneva Chapter (1995-1997), and Deputy Executive Secretary of UNISTE (since 1993). A doctor in Economics (Troisieme Cycle, La Sorbonne, Paris - France) and master in business administration (HEC, Paris-France), Bruno Lanvin has been in charge of the first meeting of 'Partners for Development' devoted to electronic commerce (Global Electronic Trade UN Partnership, Lyon November 1998). In 1999, he organized a series of regional workshops on 'E-commerce and Development' (Peru, Kenya and Sri Lanka) which allowed over 500 representatives from the private and public sector to make practical proposals and launch concrete initiatives to promote e-commerce worldwide ( http://www.unctad.org/ecommerce ).


Terrie Lloyd
President, LINC Media Inc.
Terrie Lloyd is a 41-year dual-national of New Zealand and Australia who formed his first company, LINC Japan Ltd., six months after arriving in Japan in 1983. The firm provided technical translation services for Japanese exporters. In 1987, Lloyd switched to importing PCs, and in February 1990, Lloyd formed a new company, LINC Computer Inc., to take care of his growing computer business. LINC Computer started its first year with sales of $500,000 and seven staff. By the end of 1995, the company had had five years of 80% average annual growth and was at $18 million sales. The US computer services giant EDS purchased LINC Computer Inc. in November 1995, after which Lloyd worked part time for EDS. He left to focus on his new business, LINC Media, in late 1996.

In June 1994, Lloyd also began publishing an English-language magazine called Computing Japan. It grew to a readership of 80,000 and was distributed in 10 countries. As publisher of the only Japanese computer magazine in English, Lloyd was able to tap into the consciousness of many top Japanese and foreign executives both in Japan and overseas. In November 1999, Lloyd relaunched the magazine as Japan Inc., focusing on the rise of Japan's Internet economy.

Also since 1999, LINC Media has been able to expand significantly, becoming a vertically integrated provider of electronic content and infrastructure.

The company presently has five divisions and 85 employees, and is enjoying 100% annual growth. With most of his staff being not only bilingual but also advanced computer engineers or designers and other content professionals, Lloyd is successfully competing head to head with Japanese companies.

Lloyd writes for the Nikkei Shimbun and has been quoted by TIME, the Economist, Forbes, US Public Radio, Bloomberg TV, Japan Times, Wired Online, and many other leading news sources. He is one of only two foreigners in the Japanese chapter of the YEO (Young Entrepreneur's Organization), and is also active in various chambers of commerce and other trade-related organizations in Tokyo.


Ken Lyon

Ken Lyon is a recent addition to the board of the internet startup 'Sorceree' which will provide web based technologies enabling global enterprises and trading communities to monitor and manage their demand chains.

Ken is one of the pioneers of informatics development and its application within the Logistics and transportation industry. Working in this arena since the early seventies and specifically with information technology since 1979 he has been directly involved in many of the pivotal events which have helped shape the use of computer based communications within the industry. Indeed the worlds foremost internet pundit, Esther Dyson, refers to Ken as an unique and valuable resource in the converging worlds of ecommerce and logistics For the past five years Lyon has been part of global management team establishing the an innovative global logistics business on behalf of the parent company UPS. During this time he lead the development of their international systems and was appointed to the level of ce President.

In the past 12 years he has produced several papers and been a speaker at conferences and international trade and transportation conventions around the world.


Toru Maegawa

Maegawa is a visiting professor at Waseda University from September 1999. Prior to becoming a visiting professor at Waseda University, Maegawa was the Director for IT Security Center, Information Technology Promotion Agency, Japan (IPA) from 1997 to 1999. Previous to this, he lived in New York City and was Director of the Industrial Electronics Div, Japan External Trade Organization New York Center. Maegawa began his career at the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI). In recent years, his greatest concern has been the impact of the Internet on the world's economy, society and our daily life.

Maegawa earned his degree in Computer Science from the Nagoya Institute of Technology in 1978

Dr. Matsushima is a professor of School of Engineering, the University of Tokyo. He is teaching "Corporate Strategy" and "Business Management".

He worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers Consultants Ltd., Japan as Managing Director(US partner) from February 1997. Through this period he was engaged in supervising Business strategy development, ERP and other projects of big enterprises. He worked for IBM Japan and IBM Asia Pacific as a management of Marketing field ,15 years; Manufacturing Industry Marketing, PC business, and Engineering systems. Since 1999, he gives lecture gCorporate Strategyh at School of Engineering, Waseda University as a guest professor.
