Izumi Aizu
Principal, Asia Network Research (Malaysia)
Mr. Aizu started Institute for Networking Design in 1986, promoted the use of personal computer networking to communities and corporations, facilitated international interactions among networkers in the U.S., Europe and Asia. He joined GLOCOM (Center for Global Communications) at International University of Japan in 1991 and promoted Internet in Japan.

In 1993, Mr. Aizu joined Institute for HyperNetwork Society, newly established research unit in Oita prefecture to further explore the potential of community networking.

In 1997 he moved to Malaysia where he started Asia Network Research to help develop the Internet in Asia. His main focus is global development of the Network Society, with strong interest in social challenges including economic, cultural and legal and human issues.

Mr. Arano received B.S. and M.S. from University of Tokyo in 1984 and 1986 respectively. Then he entered Nippon Telegraph and Telephone, Corp. He visited University of Illinois in 1991-1992 as a visiting scholar.

In 1996, he started up OCN, one of the largest ISPs in Japan which NTT provides, as a chief engineer responsible for network design, construction and operation.

Since then, he has been in charge of planning and developing new network businesses/services. He has also volunteered a chair of JPNIC IP working group and ICANN Address Council which is an organization for "Internet Governance," etc. for IP address policy development both in Japan and globally.

Daniel Bara
CEO, NetGroup Consulting S.A. (Argentina)
Mr. Bara is one of the founders of NetGroup Consulting and creator of Externa. Since 1995 he has been linked to Internet in Latin America. Since 1997, he belongs to the gPolicy Group of the G8 Global Marketplace for Small and Medium Enterprises (gSMEsh), of the European commission.

He is also a member of the gInformatics 2000 initiativeh, commission created by the Interamerican Development Bank to create electronic trade policies for the region of Latin America and the Caribbean.

Between 1992 and 1995 he worked in the department of Strategic Planning and Marketing of Siderar, a subsidiary of the Techint group, the biggest iron and steel company in the Argentinean market.

He graduated as Industrial Engineer in the Technological Institute of Buenos Aires (ITBA), and was professor of Strategic Planning at the University for 2 years.

Dr. Boubakar Barry

I am at the University Cheikh Anta Diop of Dakar where I teach Telematics and computer networks for computer science students.

I am also the chairman of the university internet task group which has in charge the policy and the implementation of the internet infrastructure at the university. This group has also in charge the (technical and administrative) management of the CCtld .SN.

I am involved in several IT projects in Senegal and have activities in this field in several African countries (training, teaching, studies for national and international organizations).

To date Mr. Bartz has raised over $6 million dollars in venture capital for his company in Japan.

JMAIL.CO.JP, our flagship free email service offers Japanese consumers a choice of 95 different domain names, including moon.co.jp, sushi.co.jp, earth.co.jp and Japan.co.jp.

Mr. Bartz is preparing JMAIL.CO.JP for IPO listing on the new TSE MOTHERS market. One of our most important JMAIL.co.jp product developments is for iMode cellular phone and wireless Internet.

Erik Bohlin, Ph.D.

Erik Bohlin is currently with the School of Technology Management and Economics at Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg, and conducts projects within the Institute for Management, Innovation and Technology (IMIT). He has published in a number of areas relating to the Information Society - policy, strategy, and management - but also in the general field of investment decision-making. He has served as guest researcher at a number of institutes: the Institute for Prospective Technological Studies (IPTS), Seville, a research center of the European Commission (1998-1999); East-West Center (1997) Honolulu, Keio University (1997), Tokyo, and Institute for Social and Economic Research (ISER) at Osaka University (1994). He is moreover an Associate Researcher of the Center of Information and Communications Research (CIC) at Stockholm School of Economics (1997); a Jury Member of the Telenor Research Prize (1997); Member of the Steering Committee of the European Network for Communications and Information Perspectives (ENCIP) since 1996; and a Member of the Board of Directors of the International Telecommunications Society (ITS) since 1994, where he presently serves as Publications Chair. He is also a member of the Scientific Advisory Boards of Communications and Strategies, Info and Telecommunications Policy. He obtained his graduate degree in Business Administration and Economics at the Stockholm School of Economics and his Ph.D. at Chalmers University of Technology (1996).

Eric A. Brewer is Chief Scientist and co-founder of Inktomi Corporation. After receiving his Ph.D. at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Brewer became an assistant professor in the Computer Science division at the University of California, Berkeley. Brewer previously held positions at the Idea Group, CABAM, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Brewer holds a BS in computer science from the University of California, Berkeley.

Srisakdi Charmonman has extensive experience in academic and business as well as government and private sectors. He was Director of Graduate Studies in Computer Science at the University of Missouri in the US, Distinquised professor at King Mongkut'institute of Technology, Dean of Internet and E-Commerce at Assumption University, etc.

He is now Chairman of the Board of Internet KSC, the first and largest ISP in Thailand which is also the only major ISP with profits from day one. For the government, he is manager of the e-commerce pilot project at the Ministry of Commerce, chairman of the Internet advisory committee for the minister of university affairs, Thailand representative in the e-ASEAN high-level task force, etc.

Lee A. Daniels

Lee A. Daniels is the President and CEO of TITUS Communications Corp. TITUS Communications is a partnership between MediaOne Group, Time Warner, C. Itoh, and Toshiba that provides cable television, Internet and telephone service over a state-of-the-art broadband network through out Japan. Lee is the first non-Japanese President of a facilities-based telecommunications company in Japan.

Prior to joining TITUS, Lee spent 14 years with AT&T. His last assignment at AT&T was as the President and CEO of AT&T Japan. Lee is the vice-chairman of the board of directors of the American School in Japan, serves on the National Advisory Council of Brigham Young University's Marriott School of Management, is a Sports Commissioner for the Tokyo American Club. He is also the only non-Japanese member to serve on two Ministry of Post and Telecommunications' (MPT) special advisory boards for telecommunications and digital broadcasting.

He previously served on the boards of AT&T Japan, AT&T Jens, NTT Fan, Telehouse International, and the Travel Industry Association of America.

Richard B. Dasher, Ph.D.

Richard Dasher is concurrently the Director, US-Japan Technology Management Center; Executive Director, Center for Integrated Systems; and Consulting Associate Professor, Stanford University School of Engineering.

He appears frequently as a speaker and writer on technology management topics, technology trends in electronics and information technology fields, and Japanese business culture.

Dr. Dasher holds the Ph.D. in Linguistics from Stanford University and is fluent in Japanese. Prior to his return to Stanford in 1993, he directed the U.S. State Department's language and area training centers for U.S. and Commonwealth country diplomats in Japan and Korea (1986-90) and served as a board director with two Japanese corporations (1990-93).

Dr. Dasher is currently also on the Board of Advisors of the International Business Incubator, San Jose, California.

Brian P. Dougherty

Brian has served as Chairman and CTO since co-founding Wink in October 1994. He also served as Chief Executive Officer from inception until December 1996.

Carter Eltzroth is Secretary General of the Association Europeenne pour la protection des Oeuvres et services Cryptes (AEPOC), Europe's association which fight piracy caused by illicit decoding devices. He is also advisor to MIH, the pay media group.

In this capacity he is a sherpa on the business steering committee of the Global Business Dialogue on electronic commerce (GBDe) and on the board of the GIIC.

Carter Eltzroth is also chairman of the IPR Module of the DVB Project, which is responsible for ensuring that DVB technology can be implemented thanks to accessible patent licensing arrangements.

Sherwin Faden

Mr. Sherwin Faden joined VeriSign, Inc. in June of 1996 as International Liaison. Mr. Faden played a key role in assisting VeriSign's first subsidiary VeriSign Japan to commence operations. He accepted a position with the subsidiary as General Manager of Technology Systems and CA Operations in October of 1997, and is presently the General Manager of Marketing. Mr. Faden brings to VeriSign over six years of technical, system design, and project management experience from Visa International Asia-Pacific, Ltd.

Mr. Faden has lived and studied in France, the United States, and Japan. Mr. Faden holds a Bachelor of Science Magna Cum Laude in Business and Economics from Sophia University, Tokyo.

George Fischer

Paris Chamber of commerce and Industry After having created and directed the Paris CCIfs advisory services to industrial SMEs, Georges Fischer is currently Deputy Director of the Business Information Department.

Additionally to these activities and for the last years, he has been nominated e-commerce coordinator for the Paris Chamber of Commerce (4000 employees). As such, he participates in a number of French and European initiatives (DEUS, WeCan, MIDAS, G8) or working parties (gLorentz working partyh). He also leads e-commerce training and awareness seminars targeting SMEs and CCIs (advisors and top management) in France and abroad.

He is one of the initiators of the French Electronic Commerce Association (AFCEE) where he is member of the Board.

Dr. Robert S. Fish

Dr. Robert S. Fish is currently Director of the Panasonic Informationvand Networking Technologies Laboratory (PINTL) and Vice President of Panasonic Technologies, Inc.

The lab, located in Princeton, New Jersey, is the principal US information sciences laboratory of Matsushita Electric Industrial, Inc. of Osaka, Japan.

The current theme of the lab is Internet communications and networking. Current topics include high speed audio/video networking, security and electronic commerce, IP telecommunications, and residential gateways and networks.

Dr. Fish was Executive Director of the Multimedia Networking Research Department of Bell Communications Research (Bellcore) in Morristown, New Jersey, USA.

He received his Ph.D. from Stanford University in 1981.

Andy Green
Group Director Strategy and Development, BT.
Andy is Group Director Strategy and Development for BT. As well as being responsible for the BT Group's strategy and his specific Worldwide responsibility for the BT's Mobility and Internet and Multimedia business, he oversees the alliance relationship with AT&T.

Andy has been a member of BT's Executive Committee since March 1995, and before taking on his current role as Group Director Strategy and Development, he was responsible for Strategy, Planning, Pricing, Total Quality Management, Information Strategy and Objective Setting.

Prior to this, Andy was Director UK Customer Field Services with a Division of 50,000 people. The division provided installation and repair services to all BT's personal and small business customers, as well as providing exchange line services to BT's major business customers, and built and maintained the access network over which BT delivered the vast majority of its services.

Andy has led many major change programmes, including Payphone Serviceability, DQ Charging, introducing Customer Options for Telephony Pricing and the launch of ISDN, VPN/VPS (Centrex) and Advanced Linkline. He was also heavily involved in negotiations with Oftel over the introduction of competition and the last three price cap negotiations.

Andy has spent 12 years at BT. Prior to that he was at Shell and Deloitte Haskins & Sells.

Former he was Information Broker and owner of the business research service Hennes & Partner, Bonn. After he studied business administration at the Freie Universitat Berlin he was technological counselor at the Hans-Bockler-Stiftung, counselor for organization at Siemens-Nixdorf-Informationssysteme AG and scientific assistant at the study commission ""Future of the media - Germanys road to the information society"" from the German Bundestag. Since 1996 he is lecturer for media management in firms and media companies at the Bauhaus University Weimar and project manager of the initiative ""West African Internet (WAIN)"" supported by the study commission ""Future of the media -Germanys road to the information society"" and the committee for foreign affairs of the German Bundestag under the auspices of Dieter Weirich, Director of Deutsche Welle, Cologne.
