Mr. Mark T. Hogan President, e-GM
Mark T. Hogan, a 26-year veteran of General Motors, was appointed to lead e-GM upon its inception in August 1999. As president of e-GM, Hogan oversees the auto manufacturer's online business-to-consumer efforts, driving initiatives to enhance the shopping, purchasing and ownership experience of GM customers.
Prior to his e-GM appointment, Hogan served two years as general manager for the GM North America Car Group, Small Car Operations. He began his GM career in 1973, as a factory analyst with the Electro-Motive Division in Chicago. He was appointed to the GM Financial Staff in Detroit in 1977, where he served in several analytical and supervisory positions.
In 1981, Hogan was promoted to senior administrator for forward business planning at the former Fisher Body Division. He rejoined the Financial Staff as director on the Material, Labor and Forecast Section of the Comptroller's Staff. He was later named director of the Treasurer's office in Detroit.
In 1984, Hogan served as group director for the Public Affairs Staff at GM's Chevrolet-Pontiac-Canada Group (C-P-C). He served as general manager and comptroller at New United Motor Manufacturing, Inc. (NUMMI) from 1986 to 1988.
Hogan was promoted to group director of business planning for GM's Truck and Bus Group in March 1988, and was named executive director of planning for NAO in June 1992. He was later named executive director of the former North American Operations (NAO) Planning and Corporate Information Management (CIM).
Prior to his current assignment, Hogan was president and managing director for GM do Brasil, with responsibility for GM's operations in Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay, since December 1992.
Numerous business, new economy, computer trade and automotive publications quote Hogan as a "mover and shaker" in the e-business world. He has presented at a number of high-level business conferences and tradeshows including Comdex and Spring Internet World 2000.
He received a bachelor of science degree in business administration and finance from the University of Illinois in 1973. He was awarded a GM Fellowship and received his MBA from Harvard University in 1977.
