A third keynote speaker, Etsuhiko Shoyama, president of Hitachi Ltd., expressed his expectations for the network society. "Under the ubiquitous information society, entrepreneurs will respond to diversified people's needs. It will create more business opportunities and help economies vitalize."
Shoyama also pointed out the dark side of the ubiquitous network society. "The network society may violate privacy and cause a digital divide. Both public and private sectors should cooperate to prevent such problems."
